Everybody needs support every now and then, but not everyone can afford it. This I why offer discounted rates for those currently unemployed, on a low income and a disadvantaged background. All you need is proof of benefits or a wage slip to qualify for massively discounted packages, making insight Therapies truely accessible, flexible and affordable.
Providing one-to-one support for up to a year to a young person looking to move into employment, education or training. As a Mentor, we make a real difference to the lives of young people finishing a Prince’s Trust programme.
The role involves:
Having regular meetings with a young person
Providing a young person with support to move towards employment, education or training
Supporting a young person to identify goals and targets to work towards
Empowering them to make their own decisions about their development
Signposting them to other organisations for support
What is the impact?
I help a young person sharpen their CV or interviewing technique, build their confidence and support them into the next stage of their professional life.
What is the time commitment?
I commit to around four to six hours per month for a minimum of a year.
Work Positive Mentor
Work Positive offers people living with HIV who are unemployed a structured professional employment development programme which can help individuals take positive steps back towards the workplace. Work Positive provides work experience placements, a diverse training programme (technical skills and employability skills), one-to-one mentoring and group coaching. Each participant is supported to develop and renew skills for the workplace, meet new people, explore work options and overcome personal barriers to work.
The Employment Mentor is an integral part of the support structure for each individual, providing space for the participant to ask questions, explore work ideas, reflect on their work experience and skills and gain feedback on job applications and interview technique.
The Type of Tasks / Activities you could be involved with:
Providing one-to-one support to a person living with HIV who has been unemployed for at least two years and who has the motivation to get back into the workplace
Motivating and coaching the participant to make the most out of their work experience and further opportunities.
Providing practical support which could include support with job searching, CVs, job applications and preparation for interviews.
Providing motivational support which could include discussing barriers to work opportunities and coaching on how to overcome these barriers.
Providing reflective support which would involve discussing with the participants work experience and reflecting on the skills that are being gained in order to complete a Personal Development Portfolio.
